My approach to massage therapy grew from a simple belief: your body has an incredible capacity to heal, and sometimes it just needs the right support to get there. I specialize in a therapeutic blend of myofascial unwinding, neurofascial massage, and muscle-specific deep tissue work. I've honed these techniques to help my clients find lasting relief from chronic pain, injury, and persistent muscular tension. My slow-paced bodywork allows the nervous system time to process and release muscular tension. When you're on my table, nothing is required of you except to receive care, and I am committed to making each session a sanctuary from stress and worry.

Pain rarely lives in just one place. What you feel in your lower back may be fed by tension in your sacrum and hips that has traveled up from your legs and feet. What shows up in your shoulders often involves structures in your chest, diaphragm, and mouth, which is why I offer intraoral massage. While intraoral massage seems like an easy choice for clients dealing with TMJ dysfunction, jaw tension, sinus pressure, or bruxism, it also has a profound impact on those struggling with chronic headaches, shoulder tension, and neck pain. The relief that follows an intraoral session rarely stays in the jaw. It has a therapeutic effect on the fascia and muscles throughout the neck and shoulders, across the back of the head, and into the face and brow. My approach addresses the painful areas while also targeting what's happening downstream, treating the interconnected tissue that quietly drives so much of what you feel.

Whether someone comes to me managing fibromyalgia, recovering from an injury, or dealing with persistent low back pain, my approach follows the same core philosophy: calming the nervous system and working with your fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around your muscles, rather than forcing through it. Starting in the superficial layers and gradually working deeper means your body becomes receptive rather than braced, which allows the work to go further and last longer without the soreness that often follows traditional deep tissue massage. No two bodies are the same, though, and that's why no two clients receive the same massage from me. My techniques are always customized to meet each client in that moment.

Away from work, I recharge by exploring nature and spending time with my partner and our cats, who are daily advocates for rest and connection. It's a good reminder of something I find myself coming back to with almost every client: healing doesn't happen despite rest, it happens because of it. If you're looking for a therapist who will take your pain seriously and give you real space to heal, I'd love to work with you!

Amanda is fantastic. She has a great sensory response to where to prioritize effort / pressure / touch and has a kind and calming presence. I highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Injured my low back on my flight out to Seattle. I've been through this before, and was pretty sure my week was going to be spent on my back trying to prevent back spasms. I decided to try a massage and was lucky to be a few blocks from Massage Sanctuary. They were able to get me in within 24 hours and Amanda Norman did a fantastic job relieving the stress around the injury to the point I was mobile by the next day and able to hike by the end of the week. Turns out she's a specialist in low back pain!   Lucky find for me and a fantastic experience. Side benefit -- she also was the most effective masseuse at relieving my chronically tight IT bands and overly-tense thighs, without the pain I normally feel when folks work on my legs.   Excellent service and really great experience.
